  • Hi again Bud,..I once had a good friend on a tin can I served on who was a BT2 during the Cuban Missile Crisis of '62 who bears a very close resemblance to you, ( after viewing your pic.& profile)  my mind started thinking...where have I seen this swabby before...and then it finally came to me...Hin name was  Vernon Marion.Shortly after we got thru the  CMS he was transferred  & I never saw him again, but much later I heard he made BTC/20 years service.Have to say he was well liked by all rates aboard.

  • Hey Bud,I used to be home-ported at Long Beach '57-'59 on the uss James E Kyes  DD 787   Later  Long Beach was turned over to the ChiComs by none other than SLICK WILLY Clinton...sad .

  •   Bud, was glad I came accross your site tonight. Spent 3&1/2 yrs. in one of the hearts of the USS Kitty Hawk from 1968 to 1971. A lot of growing up was done with all the firesides and watersides on 1200# boilers. Wouldn't trade one day for the time I spent on the Hawk cause when the water was rough a BT can't feel a thing when he's 50 to 75 feet below the water line.

  • The US Navy treated me good, they made me grow up and be sucessful as a young adult and have rewarded me with a good job still with the Navy as a civilian!!

  • The Ride was Great! 75 bikes and 5 cages help to escort our Hero Home for his first visit since being injuried in A-stand by an IED where he lost his left leg and injuried his right foot. He also turned 20 y.o. on Saturday. Check us out at www.warriorswatch.org

  • I remember that we both did some work on the Knox and Perry Classes. Also I do remember water jetting the Jersey and the "Mighty Mo" there at Long Beach. Having to climb into and "punching" those water tubes. Working all night to get the job done. Time sure Fly's.
