I retired in 1980 and at that time the Navy had recently added 06 as the highest Rank an LDO could attain. I was wondering if ther are any either Retired or Active duty O6's? And what sort of billets were or are they serving in? Just thought someone here might know.

I personally know of 4 Retired LDO Navy Captains: Brian Deneen (Admin), O.W. Wright (Admin), James Kuriger (Weapons) and Herb Stephen (Deck). They all retired in the late nineties I believe. I also heard that former LDO Deck/Admin assistant detailer Cindy Talbert retired as an LDO Navy Captain just a few years ago. All of them served in key billets in Wash DC at one time or another.
I retired in 2007 as Supply Corps CDR LDO. The cycle before I retired I was in zone for CAPT with one other CDR who was a CEC. The board composition that cycle was headed by a CEC O7 so needless to say .. I did not get the promotion. Next cycle the zone changed and I was told there would be no LDO O6 promotions for at least 2 years ... so I retired. I was at the 33 year mark at that time. So, I know there are a few O6 LDOs out there ... I would have liked to pick it up, but it wasn't in the cards!
